By God’s mercy and grace, Jeff was converted from the rock music industry in the early 80s. Though religious from his youth, his conversion to Jesus Christ at 30 brought him to see and then to preach the sovereign grace of God. Jeff’s continued studies in God’s Word revealed the importance of the family in the outworking of God’s eternal purpose and what it meant to be a husband and father in Christ.
These convictions led him to an active role in his children’s education, first in a Christian academy and then finally in homeschooling. His two children, Lacey and Jordan are now both grown. In the course of those years he taught home and campus Bible studies, did interim pastorate work, had a street ministry to the sub-culture for two years, and then conducted a jail ministry in the East Feliciana Parish Prison for nearly ten years.
He also pastored Providence Baptist Church in Ball, Louisiana, for seven years during which time he authored the booklet Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America. Prior to that Jeff wrote the booklet Who Is Jesus Christ?, and later the tract Do You Know Jesus Christ?, which is published by Chapel Library. He has been happily married to his beloved Myra for twenty-nine years. Jeff adds, “We look forward to serving the Lord’s children in all the blessed ministries that flow from Mt. Zion Bible Church. The burning desire of our hearts is to see the Lord Jesus Christ exalted and His grace magnified in every aspect of life. I look forward with the greatest anticipation to seeing that become a reality with my fellow-elder, Steven Frakes. May it please the Lord Jesus to use our feeble efforts to the expanding of His great kingdom and to the praise of His eternal glory.”
